Day of the Lord

Since my writing of this book in the 1990s, I have changed my views on the Day of the Lord.  I continue to believe that this period of time will begin after the opening of the Seventh Seal.

However, I now believe that the first segment of the Day of the Lord will be the Day of Vengeance, which will last approximately one year (see The Seventh Year).  This phase of the Day of the Lord will include the seven Trumpet Judgments and the seven Bowl Judgments.

Then, I believe, the Day of the Lord will continue on and will include the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ on this earth, during the glorious Millennium.  Thus, the Day of the Lord also is synonymous with the Day of Jesus Christ and the Day of God.  This is not a 24-hour day but, rather, a “day” of significant length.  According to the apostle Peter, “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” (2 Peter 3:8).

Following the millennial period, I believe that this present heavens and earth (that is, universe) will pass away.  Then God will create a brand new, perfect, pristine Creation (see old and new Creations), which will last eternally.  And those who have accepted Jesus’ sacrifice as a once-for-all atonement for their sins and transgressions will enter that everlasting paradise
